What Your First Session with PFPT Looks Like
Your first session is where everything starts to make sense.
Whether you’re coming in for physical therapy or performance training, the process is the same. Before we do anything, we want to fully understand you, your body, and your goals.
Step 1: A Deep Dive Into Your Story
We begin with a detailed conversation about what’s been going on.
This isn’t a rushed intake. We take the time to understand:
What you’re feeling and when it started
What makes it better or worse
Your training, lifestyle, and injury history
What you’re trying to get back to—or achieve
This gives us the full context behind your situation, not just the symptoms.
Step 2: Full-Body Movement Assessment
Next, we look at how you move.
You’ll go through a series of guided movements that allow us to assess:
Overall movement patterns
Posture and positioning
Mobility and control
How different parts of your body work together
While we pay close attention to the area bothering you, we also zoom out because there are times the root cause isn’t just where you feel the issue.
Everything is documented so we have a clear baseline and can track progress over time.
Step 3: Hands-On Physical Assessment
From there, we take a more focused, hands-on approach.
We assess things like:
Joint mobility and range of motion
Strength and muscle activation
Movement quality
Any compensations your body may be using
This helps us confirm what we saw during the movement assessment and fill in the finer details.
Step 4: Connecting the Dots
This is where it all comes together.
We walk you through what we found in a way that actually makes sense, connecting:
What you’re feeling
How you move
What we found during testing
So you leave with a clear understanding of what’s going on and why.
Step 5: A Targeted Plan Moving Forward
With all of that information, we build a plan that’s specific to you.
Because we’ve taken the time to be detailed upfront, we can be more precise with:
The exercises you’ll do
The cues that will actually click for you
The interventions that will move the needle fastest
The goal is simple: make your progress as efficient, intentional, and effective as possible.
Bottom Line
By the end of your first session, you won’t just have “done therapy” or “worked out.” You’ll have a clear direction, a better understanding of your body, and a plan you can trust.
